Has My Kid Made a Decision to Join?
Frankly, I'd be ashamed to see my kid in this kind of publicity because it implies that we're paying for this tiny amount of attention. Private scholarships and, most significantly, those provided by the institution your child will be attending are considerably better and more dependable sources of financial help. The possibility of disclosing membership on college or employment applications is one of the touted advantages. Yet, it probably won't matter much given how simple it is to sign up as a member. As only a tiny percentage of new members receive financial awards, it's likely that they won't also aid in paying for a student's education.
Association of National High School Scholars
The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) is an accredited organisation that provides members with networking opportunities, cash rewards, and other benefits. According to the NSHSS website, more than $2 million in scholarships are awarded to student members each year. Nonetheless, there is still debate around the honour society since some contend it does not offer NSHSS members the advantages it advertises.
What Is the NSHSS?
A prominent intellectual honour society, the National Society of High School Scholars is a group with headquarters in Atlanta. It has over 1.7 million members from over 26,000 high schools in 170 different countries. The NSHSS, which was co-founded by Claus Nobel, a descendant of the man who created the Nobel Peace Prize, gives students the chance to apply for a variety of financial awards and take part in webinars and other activities in an effort to help them succeed and gain admission to colleges and scholarships. Members can stay involved in the club after they graduate high school, and it also provides networking possibilities for activities like international travel and other initiatives.
NSHSS Membership
Student membership eligibility is determined by the NSHSS based on a variety of factors, including a 3.5 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale. SAT score of at least 1280. a PSAT score of at least 1150. ACT score of at least 26. any exam with a 4 or above from AP.36 or higher on the cumulative total of the IB exams. A or higher on the IGCSE. being among the class's top 10%. The objective is to reward high school students who excel academically with participation in this honour society.
An Invitation to Join the NSHSS
If a student is deemed qualified, they are issued an informational packet via mail or email. According to the NSHSS, "teachers and counsellors, educational partner organisations, the National Research Centre for College and University Admissions, and the College Board Student Search Service give student contact information. The student's letter of invitation for participation in the organisation makes mention of how NSHSS obtains their information.
Fee for Membership
A student who chooses to sign up for the programme must pay a one-time charge (currently $75) in exchange for a lifetime membership. Students with low incomes can apply to have the cost waived. Access to several scholarship applications and other possibilities the organisation could provide is granted to members. T-shirts and other items may be bought separately as well.
